An email from an Indonesian Christian

I read Chuck Swindoll's article, then I catch your name in IFC website, and would like to give you an Indonesian-Christian view on this tragedy. Perhaps our brothers and sisters all over the world would then understand better.

Aceh is well known inside Indonesia as the "Mecca terrace". They are very proud with it. They are proud of being a strict muslim territory, being a special province in Indonesia, and have been constituting the "Syariah Law" for years. When that law was first constituted, hundreds of churches are closed and Christians in Aceh are going under harder persecutions since then. This is a true story.

Aceh was then forever closed for Christianity, let alone evangelism, until now.

Now Aceh is receiving aids from the countries they hate most. The first aid assistance did not come from the their own government, or the muslim countries. Aceh now have to admit the facts that ships, helicopters, even battleships and soldiers are coming from the so-called "infidel countries", countries they know as Christian countries.

In certain parts of Indonesia, Christians are being persecuted either soft or hard. In this town I live now, there is not a single Church-building can exist. Christians have to keep a low profile and having uncontinuous house-prayers to prevent "neighbour complaint". Some families are being threatened by their own neighbours. The church I share ministry with is located inside an army compound, the only church building in the area which we have to share with 7 other denominations.

But I am honored to share this burden with my brothers and sisters here, as "it is a prove that God's spirit dwell in us". We love our neighbours, and try to send out that love to them, even tough they receive it with doubts, and even sometimes reject it.
