wwje? who would Jesus elect?

As congressional candidates race for the November finish line, it might be good time to ask, WWJE? Who would Jesus elect? Here's a column from the 2004 presidential race that is still relevant.

crikey, mate, a bloke could get killed!

First, my thoughts and prayers go out to the family, friends and fans of Steve Irwin AKA "The Crocodile Hunter." (Irwin, 44, was killed by a stingray Monday. He's best known for his death-defying encounters with crocs and venomous snakes, even taking his two-year-old into a ring with a large crocodile.) Second, while his death is tragic, it is an important warning to his fans—many of whom are young and impressionable—that if you tempt death, there's a very good chance you will die!

army sends wrong signal in murder case against soldiers

Saturday the Army recommended the death penalty in the case of four U.S. soldiers accused of killing three men during a May raid in Iraq. This is a terrible crime and worthy of a life in prison. However, it sends the wrong signal to those who would behead Americans whom they believe—in their twisted concept of justice—are deserving of death. (And will further alienate allies opposed to capital punishment.)

can survivor outwit, outplay, outlast racial criticism?

In the past, the popular reality show has separated contestants by age and gender, but this time the tribe has spoken concerning the alleged "racism" in having white, black, Asian, and Hispanic teams. So, is it racism? I'm going to delay my vote until the first tribal council. But for now:

the 'photoshop' diet really works

The Drudge Report is having great fun with new CBS News anchor Katie Couric's photo being digitally altered to shed twenty pounds. It's amazing. I lost 50!

JonBenet Ramsey's self-professed murderer was released, an FBI-most-wanted polygamist was arrested, Pluto was kicked out of the planet club, a Sunday school teacher of 54 years was "fired" for being female, Dell fire broke out, and I wrote my last weekly (weakly?) newspaper column.
