study freelance writing online

I'm teaching an online class at Taylor University Fort Wayne called "ENG472E Freelance Writing." Okay, not a catchy title, but it teaches you everything you need to know to get published. It's a fully accredited four-hour class that you complete at your own pace completely online. Check it out.

lasting love not a 'feeling'

Demi Moore told Harper's Bazaar that she doesn't need a ring to feel married to Ashton Kutcher. "I feel that we are and that we don't need something formal." If so, I don't give the relationship a "Ghost" of a chance of lasting a lifetime.

Pat Robertson and five stupid rules

After two whole days of critical coverage, Christian commentator Pat Robertson apologized for suggesting that the U.S. assassinate the Venezuelan president.

advocating abstinence and prostitution

Thanks to Elizabeth Sandoval for her excellent apologetic for abstinence in USAToday. The 32-year-old writes she is "one who respects her body so much that she won't allow it to be used as someone's playground." Meanwhile, BreakPoint is reporting that Marie Claire fashion magazine ran an article entitled “Prostitution Gives Me Power" praising "sex workers" for, and I quote, "using their bodies to foster trust, compassion, and happiness in the world.” The two perspectives are enough to give a reader whiplash!

'we need a little Christmas'

After blogging about Focus on the Family's "Is My Child Becoming Homosexual?" check list (see below) as well as Islamic extremism and the Iraqi constitution crisis, legalized incest, the meth mess, and Planned Parenthood's outrageous video (see links on left), I need a little Christmas right this very minute:

Iraqi laws must conform to Islam

Just as I feared (see Sunday's post), the draft of the Iraqi constitution reads, "Islam is a main source for legislation and it is not permitted to legislate anything that conflicts with the fixed principles of its rules." However, Sunni delegates may object to the Shi'ite and Kurdish coalition's inclusion of the principle during the three-day "negotiating" session to ink final draft.

I'm 49.9 percent gay?!

Well, at least according to Focus on the Family’s
Helping Boys Become Men: Is My Child Becoming Homosexual? I had more than three of the seven warning signs! How many heterosexual boys will be made to believe they are homosexual simply because their parents buy into these stifling stereotypes?!

Sunday (08.21)
a repugnant clause—
and cause?

U.S. President Bush's dream for a free and democratic Iraq may turn into a greater nightmare than 1,800+ American soldiers and 25,000+ Iraqi civilians killed. Iraq's provisional parliament is considering a constitution, based on Islamic law (Shariah) with a "repugnancy clause" that says no law can "contradict Islam." (This could make Iraq a theocracy, not a free democracy.) To think the U.S. government has shed so much American and Iraqi blood to put into power a government based on beliefs that often inspire shedding of American and Iraqi blood—now that's "repugnant."
