Saturday (07.09) CBS replaces God with ghosts
"Joan of Arcadia," the story of a teen who talks with God, is being replaced with
"Ghost Whisperer," the story of a woman to talks to dead people. Arrrgh!
- Here's my take on ghosts

Friday (07.08) U.S. raises threat level to 'Orange'
In response to yesterday's bombings in London, U.S. officials have raised the terror alert level from
"Yellow: Elevated" to "Orange: High." To put it in perspective, life in general is solid "Green: Low."

Tuesday (07.05) 'Deep Impact' cost could have had deeper impact
NASA spent $333 million to crash a probe into a comet to discover what it was made of. In less than two weeks
the space agency plans to launch a $400+ million Shuttle mission. And in January 2004, President Bush
proposed a $500 billion manned mission to Mars. Could that
money being
launched into space have a deeper impact if used to solve problems like hunger and disease right here on planet earth?

Sunday (07.03) interpreting US Constitution, Bible
Long before U.S. Supreme Court justice Sandra Day O’Connor announced her retirement Friday,
battle lines were drawn concerning new Supreme Court nominees:
pro-abortion vs. pro-life, pro-same-sex-unions vs. pro-traditional-marriage,
[pro-fill-in-the-blank] vs. [pro-fill-in-the-opposite-blank]. Those fronts get Headline News coverage,
but the real court conflict pits “strict constructionism” (what the Constitution says is what the Constitution means)
against the “living, breathing document” front (what the Constitution says is open to
interpretation and is evolving in our changing times). Hmmm? That sounds familiar to
an even more important battle over how God’s law, the Bible, is interpreted in today’s world.
Here are some thoughts:
- What does the Bible really say?
- Are you absolutely sure there are no absolutes?
- What's the best way to display Ten Commandments?
Last week same-sex unions, Scientology, court rulings . . .
Wow! A wild week with Canda and Spain voting to legalize same-sex marriages, Tom Cruise waging a
"War of the Words" concerning depression and his Scientology beliefs, and the Supreme Court splitting on displays of
the Ten Commandments on government property.
- Here are some thoughts on each.
