happy easter!

winter is past;
the rains are over and gone.

saturday: wrestling alligators and writing

According to Olin Miller, "Writing is the hardest way of earning a living, with the possible exception of wrestling alligators." It is hard, but it is possible. So, here are some ways I can help you wrestle those alligators:

friday: fulfill your dreams of publication

And now a shameless bit of self-promotion. I’m working with ACW Press, a self-publishing company. With Print on Demand (POD), ACW offers professional editing and customized cover for very short press runs (you can actually break even at just 200 copies). It’s an economical way to have a book with laminated cover, ISBN number, and bar code professionally produced in every way. What a deal! Visit the site below or call me at 1-800-931-BOOK.

thursday: marking anniversary of Columbine school shooting

April 20, 1999, I was teaching a college class called "
Online Communications." Ironically, we were looking at news sites that afternoon when the breaking news came on the screen that 13 students had been killed and 23 wounded at Columbine High School in Colorado. It was one of those "you remember right where you were" when a national tragedy occurs such as 9/11. My thoughts and prayers are with the students and family members who lost loved ones seven years ago. Some thoughts on . . .
School shootings
Loss and grief
Gun control

wednesday: what should we expect from 'devils'?!

The alleged rape of a black college student by two white members of the Duke "Blue Devils" lacrosse team is tragic on so many levels: sexually, racially, socially, legally, morally and even spiritually. But you've got to ask yourself, what should we expect from a school whose mascot is Satan himself?!

According to St. Paul's letter to the Galatians, Satan's followers exhibit:

". . . sexual immorality, impurity and debauchery; idolatry and witchcraft; hatred, discord, jealousy, fits of rage, selfish ambition, dissensions, factions and envy; drunkenness, orgies, and the like."

Getting rid of the lecherous-looking mascot might be a good place to start in restoring Duke's reputation. Some other thoughts on . . .
Responding to scandal
Reporting on sex crimes
Revealing the defendents' names

easter sunday: 'he is risen, he is not here'

"HE IS RISEN. HE IS NOT HERE," proclaimed the sign outside the large stone church. It had once been alive and active in preaching the message of the risen Lord. Now stale, still, sterile ritual filled the building where the Spirit once breathed. "He is risen. He is not here."
