Saturday (04.09)
rapper 'C-Murder' claims he's 'misunderstood'

The New York Times is reporting that rapper “C-Murder” is changing his stage name because he believes he’s being misunderstood. Corey Miller, who will now go by “C-Miller,” said in a statement, “I am not a murderer. From the beginning, I have been a target because of who I am, my stage name and for my success as an entertainer.” Miller released the statement from a Louisiana prison where he is being held on a life sentence with no parole. Yes, in 2002 'C-Murder' was convicted of a 16-year-old fan's murder. Miller has also been indicted in an unrelated case from 2001. This time for attempted second-degree murder. "C-Misunderstood" indeed!

Friday (04.08)
on this day of Pope John Paul II's funeral . . .

My thoughts and prayers are with those mourning the popular pontiff's death. For related commentaries scroll down through Thursday, Wednesday and Sunday.

Thursday (04.07)
waiting in line, redeeming the time

Millions of people are waiting in line to see the late Pope, and "Star Wars" fans are already lining up in front of theaters for May 19's "Episode III—Revenge of the Sith." Aren't there better ways to spend our time in this galaxy?!

Wednesday (04.06)
why should Protestants care about election of new pope?

Friend and fellow trouble-maker David Drury writes an insightful essay on the importance of the choice of new pope to non-catholics. As a Protestant, I shared much in common with John Paul II's beliefs, especially his uncompromising pro-life and sanctity of marriage positions. We do, however, differ on celibacy!

- Have priests always been celibate males? (Hint: 39 popes were married)

Tuesday (04.05)
disturbing search engine results

I can track what search words bring visitors to this site. There are a lot involving "Paris Hilton," "Britney Spears" and "naked." But most disturbing is the number of "dead Pope jokes" searches over the weekend (Monday this page was number two on google.com). I hope they're looking for my scathing critique of Matt Tiabbi's so-called "humor" column on the pontiff's imminent death. And here's why "Paris Hilton," "Britney Spears" and "naked" direct people to my strictly PG rated site:

the circle of life continues

Last week was spent waiting for news of the deaths of Terry Schiavo and Pople John Paul II This week Lois and I are joyfully awaiting news of the birth of grandchildren Micah and Hannah. In the circle of life, winter is always followed by spring.
