about moi

All that's really important to know is that I love God, my family, writing, speaking, and Chinese food—in that order.

Saturday (01.21)
the list that really matters

In response to the Church Report’s list of the 50 Most Influential Christians in America, I would like to propose a much more biblical gauge of influence:
- Who's on your list? (from Rev. magazine) [new]

is life valuable from womb
to tomb?

I certainly believe it is both in years and in physical, social and mental condition . . .

Is capital punishment a pro-life issue?
- Are you pro-pro-life?

life not valuable to Osama bin Laden

The number one terrorist's total disregard for human life is indeed terrorizing. So, how do we respond to yesterday's audio-taped threats against the United States? What do we say to our children? Here are some resources:

Thursday (01.19)
mutant aliens from Planet Hollywood invade earth

My theory is that TV and movie hunks are not human, but are mutant aliens from Planet Hollywood. The mother ship crashed in Orange County, so these creatures have confined themselves in the area awaiting rescue.

EMINEM AND KIM MATHERS

Wednesday (01.18)
rapper and ex-wife remarry

I'm no Eminem fan with the hate and violence he raps about, but I'm always thrilled when love and forgiveness prevail. He and his ex-wife, Kim, remarried Saturday which is pretty amazing since his x-rated rap fantasized about killing her and he has "Kim: Rot in Pieces" tattooed on his chest! Perhaps he can represent (stand for) 143 (saying "I love you") that's bout it (genuine). That would be sweet (good)!

Supreme Court upholds physician-assisted suicide

The Associated Press is reporting, "The Supreme Court on Tuesday upheld Oregon's one-of-a-kind physician-assisted suicide law, rejecting a Bush administration attempt to punish doctors who help terminally ill patients die. Justices, on a 6-3 vote, said the 1997 Oregon law used to end the lives of more than 200 seriously ill people trumped federal authority to regulate doctors."

Tuesday (01.17)
happy 300th birthday, Benjamin Franklin!

What an amazing man! He's credited with creating lightening rods, the first fire department, the first fire insurance plan, a urinary catheter for his brother with kidney problems, bifocal glasses (I have Ben to thank for being able to see the computer screen), daylight savings time and political cartoons as well as shaping the United State's form of government. However, contrary to popular belief, Franklin did not invent the famous stove named after him; that honor goes to David Rittenhouse. Also, contrary to what some Christians would want to believe, Franklin was not a Christian, but a Deist who believed in a God who "governs in the affairs of men . . ." but denied the divinity of Jesus Christ.

A MILLION LITTLE PIECES

Monday (01.16)
truth in a million little pieces

It’s no surprise that James Frey’s best-selling addiction memoir contains, shall we say, “fictionalized elements.” So-called “literary journalists” have been doing that since Truman Capote’s In Cold Blood. What is surprising to me is that nobody’s blood is boiling!

celebrating Martin Luther King, Jr's dream

"I have a dream that my four children will one day live in a nation where they will not be judged by the color of their skin but by the content of their character. I have a dream today. " Martin Luther King, Jr., August 28, 1963
